Description

Most of Lux's files follow a particular naming convention of lx followed by a letter of a word describing the file. LuXrender Scene (lxs), LuXrender Objects (lxo), LuXrender Materials (lxm), LuXrender Volumes (lxv), LuXrender Queue (lxq), and..... luxrender FiLM (flm).

Was there any particular reason why the film files have the extension .flm instead of .lxf (for LuXrender Film)? flm is a fairly generic extension, as shown here: http://filext.com/file-extension/FLM [^]

It's used for several other file formats by other applications. Including two notable ones, Adobe Premiere and Autodesk AutoCAD. Both of these are apps that may well be installed on a machine alongside LuxRender.

lxf, on the other hand, is much less common: http://filext.com/file-extension/lxf [^]

The name follows our other conventions and is more clearly a Lux file, and those applications that do also use .lxf are things our users are unlikely to have installed (at least compared to Premiere and AutoCAD)

As a result, I propose we standardize extensions and change Lux to use .lxf for film files from now on. Obviously, we'd want to include support for reading .flm extension as well, at least for awhile.
