LuxConsole post-pro + LuxRender command line ?

Postby piiichan » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:57 pm

Hello,

I've been looking for ways to let luxconsole know that I want the post-processing options that luxrender has, but it seems luxconsole is lacking those.
The luxrender scene file specification doesn't include post-processing options, nor luxconsole's command line interface.

So is it possible for luxconsole to do any sort of post-processing ?

If not, is it possible to have luxrender work from the command-line, ie no window opening and no GUI, only the rendering process ?

As a workaround, you could run luxconsole to do your rendering, then load the film (.flm) file in LuxRender to apply post processing options after-the-fact.

If I am informed correctly the postpro-settings in LuxRender are saved in the flm-file. A (bad) workaround would be to start the render with LuxRender, set the postpro options, save the flm and then resume that flm with luxconsole.

@cwichura, @B.Y.O.B.
Thanks for the replies :)
But I can't do anything manually, the rendering pipeline must be automated.
So I must be able to specify the scene and the post-rendering effects in one shot, then launch the rendering process.
I checked and it seems that the flm file contains no such information: I tried resuming one from luxconsole, and it did not output post-processed images.

However I saw that luxrender has a command-line option to specify an options file, with the argument
-C (or --configFile)
see screenshot attached.
Anyone knows what this option file is for, and where to find more information about it ?

In that screenshot, notice that the last few options are labeled as 'configuration options'. The configfile parameter lets you specify a filename with just those (and a couple hidden test parameters). Thus, you could create a config file that defines all the slave servers you routinely use and specify that file on the command line, rather than having to fully specify all the slaves manually each time.

I would suggest adding a feature request to the luxrender bug tracking system for these options to be added to the Film block of the scene file definition.
