Mix Material

Postby Meelis » Thu May 10, 2012 3:17 pm

Hi

How do i mix materials with alpha channel enabled from tab LuxRender Alpha Transparency (alpha source: texture) in Blender 2.63.4. with not the new Layered system?
And that way alpha wouldn't mix bottom layer to transparent?

i don't want to blend them together but lay layers over another.

Im gonna look some of my older posts, maybe i can relearn how was this done in 0.7 and blender 2.49

Could you explain it a bit more, I don't fully understand what you're trying to do.
May contain traces of nuts.

Hi

I got them mixed somewhat and i'm satisfied with the result.

But main stumbling blocks i have are:
1) I mix materials with alpha then the output has transparency. That i resolved with dublicated mesh scaled 0,15 mm inside with solidify modifier, and i applied transparency blocking solid mat for this mesh.
2) I mix together 2 shader materials with alpha channel, maping between this 2 with 3'rd shader. Then 1 shader alpha makes another shader color not that sharp. The new Layered mat works better way for what i want to achieve. But unfortunately there is overburning bug with mixing glossy translucent materials with Layered system.

Make a layered material without using the layered material. I think.

How do i make it with shaders, blender clouds and others? What stays on top and what's in bottom?
