Clay rendering not working

Postby A-man » Mon May 07, 2012 11:28 am

I'm not sure if clay rendering takes into account materials with internal/external volumes assigned. Here is a result after a few minutes of clay rendering.. It seems there should be no color other then clay, but I see blue and purple all over. Also, does clay render take portals into account?

I've also noticed that displace modifiers don't seem to work unless you apply it to the mesh pre-export. This is kind of a pain because then it is permanently deformed. The cubes in this picture appear to be intersected by a flat plane, but it should really have displacement on it.

Can't confirm.

I don't think normals matter for a clay render. And there is a portal, but it is used to guide the outside light source into the box. It doesn't really matter now, I got all the geometry fixed how I want.

The "Clay render" option simply exports a specific glossy material instead of the object's actual material. So yes, normals matter just as much as with regular materials.
May contain traces of nuts.

I thought clay was a matte material. Oh well, I have some pretty funky normals for that scene with volume set up and what not.
