Again, cannot get Luxrender to run

Postby FloridaJo » Fri Apr 27, 2012 9:24 pm

Is there a new way to get Luxrender to work for 2.63.
Seems like every time I update Blender, luxrender no longer works.
2.63 has Luxrender as a render, the addons are enabled.
I've downloaded the latest luxrender build, put the folder in Applications,
put the zip file in a location that I navigate to and install addons just in case it didn't see it,
set path to the .app folder.
I'm still confused if I need to follow the 2.5 instructions or the readme that comes with the luxrender build.

help please.

Hi

For newer blender the LuxBlend was marked with unstable icon, i didn't got my scene exported so i have sticked with Blender 2.61.0 - r43210 for exporting.
I can still work in newer Blender and open my work in older Blender and export.

Try the instructions that came with your build. If that doesn't work, try a manual update to the latest version:

I just fixed both lux and slg addon to work also with Blender 2.63.
The versioncheck i had done before was ambigous.

Get:

- http://src.luxrender.net/luxblend25/archive/tip.zip ( don´t forget to keep pylux , corelib and smke decompressionlibs )

and

- http://src.luxrender.net/luxrays/file/1 ... lluxgpu.py

Thanks, got it working from your information and downloads.
Some things on this page (http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/LuxBlend_ ... LuxBlend25)
is a bit off from what I can see.

In step:

2. ...
4.....(should be) ...if you are doing a completely manual install, such as for a development build, check /Users/[username]/Library/Applications Support/Blender/2.63/scripts/addons
(I added the folder 'Library' and changed 2.60 to 2.63, but the Library folder is the biggy.)
3. Get Pylux
I didn't really didn't do any of that, I just went here: http://graphicall.org/78
and downloaded that, put it in my Blender folder (or wherever one puts their stuff) and navigated to it when 'install addons' step is done in Blender.
It's my understanding Pylux is in there now?

Thanks for the help.

Okay, feeling like a dope here.
But I know I'm not (half way through C Primer by Stephen Prata and writing programs in C)
but in cleaning up files, I must have deleted something I needed because once again Luxrender is not starting.
I reloaded Blender,
Reloaded the scr>luxrender folder into application support,
reinstalled the addon in Blender.
I'm not getting a preview of materials either, so that is a tell-tale sign for me the render will not work.
Any ideas?

Those things are not necessarily related; material previews are generated by pylux while the rendering will be done by luxrender itself. It is perfectly possible to have a setup that doesn't render previews, yet renders fine.

I'll have a go at installing LuxBlend on Blender 2.63 and hope to update the wiki instructions after that. Thanks for the comments in your earlier message in this thread, I'll make sure to check how those issues work for me.
