Some Confusion

Postby Meelis » Tue Feb 14, 2012 1:14 am

Hi :)

Are they necessary (linear exposure / fstop).
It's a bit confusing. Let's say i use f22 and shutter length 1/8 of a second. Then i would also insert same settings to Lux GUI linear exposure/fstop fields.
But this would heavily underexpose film that allready is defined with optimal shutterclose, lensradius and iso.

Camera "perspective"
"float shutterclose" [0.125000000000000]
"float lensradius" [0.001136363636364]

Film "fleximage"
"float linear_exposure" [1.000000000000000]
"float linear_fstop" [1.000000000000000]

------------

Also we need refresh/update render image button because when i render i usually update every after 0,5-2 hours by offbalancing light gain and balancing it back (so i update 2 times just in few seconds, not sure how safe it is because sometimes there comes a lot of *MLT noise i think* with 2'nt refresh on strong SSS volumes).

The f/stop and exposure on the linear tonemapper are just to help you configure things accurately if you want them to match your camera settings. There's no requirement that you actually do so.

And there IS an "update image" button, it's labeled "apply" and is at the bottom of the GUI. Refreshing only updates what you see on screen from what's on the film, it doesn't affect what is actually on the film. So any noise that seems to appear when you refresh twice in rapid succession is a coincidence.

That's a label that maybe could be changed. "Update image" sounds more fitting.

Ooo that apply changes is for that

Good to know double update wont ruin render. :)

+1001
"Update image" or "Update render"
