We are in a loop ;) Just post the .blend file, it will be fine.

The "../../../../../../Users/Andrew/Desktop/IES FILES/IES/LTL09738.IES" file is missing.

The forum doesn't allow .ies files... (huh??)

Any way around this?

Hi,

sorry for resuming an old topic.

However I'm experiencing the same problem, a black halo around a visible point light:

I'm using versione 1.2, point light with .ies profiles, no "use sphere" options, bidir+mlt and the mitchell filter.

I wonder if Dade discovered something about

Thanks in advance

Try mitchel filter, 1.05 x 1.05 radius, B parameter : 1.0, C parameter : 0.0

Those are a bit extreme settings, it will completely remove the edge enhancement.
The usually accepted rule of thumb is that B=1-2*C, C varies between 0 and 0.5 and controls the edge enhancement: the higher it is the more edge enhancement you'll have. The default value used by LuxRender is the commonly suggested one of 1/3 (0.333).

To remove ringing you can thus slightly lower C and raise B accordingly (to avoid anisotropic artifacts), but you can also widen the filter or apply even a very slight blur effect.
