GlassExpert. Interiors

Postby SATtva » Mon Nov 14, 2011 6:15 am

Here's the first part of my most long-term project -- interior visualizations for the manufacturer of advanced glass fixing systems. Outdoors weren't required, i've just added them for a better look in my own portfolio (had used photos from commons.wikimedia.org). What was required is that windows must take the most part of the image, so don't be surprised by somewhat strange composition.

Awesome job

I have a question regarding the scene with window blinds ("Stroypark trade center"): what kind of material did you use for the blinds? Matte, glossy with high roughness or matte/glossy translucent? (although I doubt it, I find the translucent mat very prone to noise, and your image is very clean).

Btw, maybe there are some materials that you could post in the material library? ;)

Well, yes, it's simply a matte translucent material with 0.45 reflection and 0.4 transmission. I've also added a slightest bump to it and a texture to modulate transmission channel (to simulate quilting seams), but made them so light as making them invisible. :) I can't say blinds contributed to the noise too much, the hardest part i think was where they are stacked together at the right of the plant.

Just name them! :) Most materials here are very simple. Plant leaves took me awhile to make right, but basically these too are just glossy translucent

Well, for one I was thinking of the floor in "Engineering Center", because I think you made a nice use of the brick texture (if I'm not mistaken). Glossy tiles with rough joint I suppose?
Also, is the chrome of the safeguards in this scene a Lux preset or your own setting?

Unfortunately, no, it's a huge commercial texture. But to replicate it in procedural is an interesting idea. :)

Almost -- metal material with 0.0045 roughness and the attached nk file.

Very good renders!

When I see advertisements I often wonder how much of them are rendered... often I'm not sure what's real and what's cg ;) (exspecially for car renders).
