Summer Day (Simple is Beautiful WIP)

Postby B.Y.O.B. » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:50 am

I'm late this time, but I think I can finish this render before the voting begins ;)

I used my ant-model I did some time before (with the ugly rig :D ).
The scene renders really fast, and I hope those fireflies go away after time.
In border-rendering tests of the white stripe they vanished at 70 S/px, but I don't know if the full render will behave similar.
I can't use firefly rejection because the displacement already fills my RAM (only 4GB) and Microdisplacement would slow down the renderspeed to much.

My final version is a bit different from this one and baking right now (but if you see huge mistakes, please let me know. Maybe I'll consider a restart).

Thanks :) .

Maybe I'll add a decent film response later.

One thing puzzles me a little. Is that grass blade grows through the asphalt? That's not really clear. Maybe add a small crack there (not made by the blade of course, but on the opposite -- there was a crack already and the blade grew from it)?

I tried making a crack, but I failed poorly :|
So I thought it would be ok this way, too. I also think that this is not the main attraction point of the scene... and at least every scene has some flaws. Also, I don't really have the time to investigate further, make tutorials etc. just to add a little crack :|

edit: I tried again... crashed my computer 3 times... I give up.

Another stellar scene. Perhaps a second version with a danbo is in order.

Hehe, I thought about that, but I'm over-worked now... this was my shortest big project ever, made in just 3 days : P

Also: don't you think there where enough Danbo-pictures now? ;)
I mean, someone could think this was my obsession or something...

by the way: current render state (after 1.5 h):

Sure, it's already a great looking scene (will vote for it for sure unless BinaryCortex give each just a single vote)! Sorry for nitpicking.

Wow! Now that's a statement

I don't think so. I mean, we have about 40 entries now... :)
This is really a great competition, and it's great that the comps are so regularly now - more and more people participate, and we have more and more sponsors.
I forgot: the comp. themes are really good choices, too. They are very inspiring!
