RC2 Linux x64 statically linked binary available for testing

Postby Radiance » Sun Oct 21, 2007 5:53 am

Hi all,

Jromang has built statically linked binaries of the RC2 release.
These don't need any dependencies (like fltk, boost and openexr) on the system as it's all compiled in.

It's compiled on a Fedora Core7 x64 system,
altough it's likely possible that this binary runs on many other x64 linux distributions.

Can people please test this and report they're findings here before i whack it onto the RC2 download post ?

Here it is:
http://www.luxrender2.org/downloads/Lux ... ic.tar.bz2

If this works we will also supply a 32bit binary soon.

thnx!,

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
It works perfectly! Thought I'd be the first to say thanks, as I was crying the loudest.

[EDIT] On Ubuntu x64 (Gutsy)

Will you be making source archives available (aside from CVS) once stable releases or rolled out? That way, people can build their own.

Hmmm... Test scene works perfectly fine, but my own scene looks like this after 20 min:

Tried physical sky/sun and exr for lighting - same results. Any ideas? Anyone?

hey, you've probably got an emitter in your scene with a large amount of vertices.
there's no sampling functionality for them yet.

don't use any large mesh emitters in rc1 and rc2.
i'll fix this in rc3

if not, please post your scene...
