The new user interface for downloading materials can be found on the website here as a flash application: http://www.luxrender.net/page/lrmdb2
If you preferred the old web interface (which still has a few more features than the new flash one), you can find it here: http://www.luxrender.net/lrmdb2/
In due course, I hope to bring the flash version up to the same level as the web interface; and of course patches are welcome ( http://src.luxrender.net/lrmdb2-flash-frontend/ )
As of today though, the database is seriously lacking in content
LuxBlend25 already has a full integration implemented, and at the present time this is the only way to upload materials to the database.
Having the exporter upload directly to the database is partially a guarantee that the data uploaded is complete and correct; it's also quite convenient
Any other developers wishing to interface with the lrmdb2 should first study and implement the lbm2 format ( viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5838 ) and then consult me regarding the lrmdb2 web service for upload.
In order to maintain a long-lived database, we also are looking for someone who can perform moderation duties; this will include categorisation of materials, and perhaps renaming or deleting broken ones.
EDIT: Thanks J The Ninja for volunteering immediately
We may also need help from developer-level users to run the preview-rendering script for a few hours a week if the number of submissions to the database demands it. I ask for developer-level users because the rendering script may need some careful configuration to get it running reliably.
Enjoy
