Material repository (post your LBM/LXM here)

Postby binarycortex » Tue Jan 18, 2011 7:10 pm

This is an attempt to provide an area for LuxRender users to share their materials until the materials database can be updated/fixed.

Please post your LBM files here, along with a luxball render of your material, any special notes and if you wish an actual example.

EDIT: You can also just post a screenshot of the settings.

You are an artist.
I'm embarassed to post my poors materials.
Your use of glossy translucent with interior medium shows that you have understood very well this material.
Thanks for the sharing.

Thanks for the complement. But I just fiddled with the settings till it looked good. ;)

P.S. The only difference between the 2 jade materials is the amount of scattering and the contrast of the blender_clouds texture.

Giving this thread some love...

Here is a galvanized steel material.
GalvanizedSteel.png

This is a bright/new galvanized steel (not oxidized/weathered). For a more oxidized look you can play with tex1 and tex2 of the exponent texture.

Example:
KubixERVTop.png

galvanized_steel.lbm

Edit:
The above material uses a spectral data file for nickel that I forgot to supply initially. I know galvanized steel is zinc coated but I like the bluish hue... and I don't have data for zinc. If anyone has spectral data for zinc and is willing to post it here I would be very greatful! In the meantime, here is the missing file:
Nickel.zip

Here is another version that uses shinymetal instead of metal and doesn't need the nickel data:

It had to be realistic because this is a real life residential air-exchanger made by the company I work for.

There is actually 16 variants of this product (different brands, ports on the side instead of the top, etc...) So we used Lux instead of an expensive photo shoot for the images that will be used in the product literature.

The product is not on the market yet but will be very soon. I might post some more images in the Finished Work forum when to product comes out.

That is wonderful to hear, thank you. Yes please post the production images. I am also curious to see how they are used i.e. pamphlet/catalog/website.
