RGC for absorption / scattering?

Postby Lord Crc » Mon Dec 27, 2010 5:59 pm

Hi,

been some discussion on IRC as to the correct handling of the scattering and absorption colors in luxblend: should they have RGC applied to them or not?

If you use the "color at depth" then clearly RGC must be taken into account there. But what if you enter a raw absorption coefficient? And what about scattering?

Hi,

Color at depth should have RGC, but not the other modes I guess since those are not really colors but physical properties.
Also don't tweak to much the exporter right now, I'm about to push a change that will make the homogeneous medium accept color textures for all of its parameters (including g) and have a fresnel property.
I'm currently evaluating the new code with measured water data.
