LuxRender v0.7.1

Postby jeanphi » Wed Sep 15, 2010 2:59 pm

Hi,

I've just ported a bunch of fixes/improvements from v0.8 to v0.7.x could you test that the resulting code is ok?
Transplanted items:
- ability to save the flm before transmitting it over the network (new --serverwriteflm option to luxconsole)
- more decimals for S/px in the Qt GUI
- point light fixes
- spot light fix
- photon mapping improvement
- removal of OpenGL in Qt GUI (and removal of the --noopengl option from the Qt GUI)
- new velvet material
- new glossy multibounce option and shading artifacts reduction
- new energyconserving option to mattetranslucent

Hi,

I'd like to release v0.7.1 before the end of the month if possible otherwise it will never be done. Do you think you'll have time to fix the remaining 4 issues assigned in the roadmap or should we release as is?

Do we have any weekly build for the 0.7.1 branch?

I have been rendering with it for about a week, everything seems fine. I will post the render in a couple of days, I was able to find a way to use surface asperity.

Hi,

I think the remaining issues are not critical. We should build the current v0.7.1 tree as RC1 and release a week later if no regression is found.

Jeanphi, the addition of the velvet material is great. Does 0.7.1 include also your multibounce addition to Glossy?

Great, I can't find more details about the syntax, do you have a link handy?

Hi,

It's all in the General exporter forum in the making lux 0.8 better thread. Here is an example:
Code: Select all
MakeNamedMaterial "test" "string type" ["glossy"] "color Kd" [1 0 0] "color Ks" [0.1 0.1 0.1] "float uroughness" [0.7] "float vroughness" [0.7] "bool multibounce" ["true"]

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there was some other specific parameter in addition to the multibounce.
