Then I hope the speed drop is caused by the bug, otherwise I can't explain it, bidir should be slightly faster with the new code.

In the console it is a bit faster. The scene i am testing with went from 18-19k samples per second to about 20-21k but the gui only manages 6k. The precise math version is running about 19-20k per second.

EDIT: Adding outputs. All were rendered to 16 s/px for the speed test. Will render higher later.

Dohness, managed to disable optimizations for the release build. Shame on me! Will upload fresh builds shortly.

Test done with LordCrc's dispersion scene using luxconsole. Both are rendered to 2000 s/px. IMHO the precise math has better color and is more accurate (less green).

Lord Crc:

Would you please make a SSE1 release.

Unfortunately, some of us are still stuck there. I would like to retest my firefly bug Plexiglass Material render with the precise math version. Would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I'll post an SSE1 build later. I hope it's fully SSE1 compatible, as I had to rebuild some dependencies to force them not to use SSE2. We'll see :)

Thank you Lord Crc. I will give it a test when you have available, and let you know if working or not.

Lord Crc:

New SSE1 build is not working for me. (See screenshot below)

I am using LuxRender 0.7 official build, but have not installed previous versions, so I have no idea to recognize old GUI from new QT GUI. Do I need to install any other dependencies not required with old GUI.

It says I need to reinstall application, but that is an oxymoron since there is no installer. Any suggestions?

Ah bummer. :( I'll look into it.

edit: ah, seems I need to rebuild Qt with a special flag. I'll do that and post an update tonight, jeanphi made some further changes so good timing :)

Lord Crc:

Tried the new build (25082010), and same problem. Refuses to open, and claims reinstall might fix it (no installer available). Not trying to complain by any means, just trying to help you with troubleshooting the SSE1 builds. I guess I will have to wait until official 0.8 is available (hopefully not abandoning SSE1).

I got my old work box working again and installed on that as well. Same problem as laptop. Both 32 bit Windows XP Pro SP2 (laptop: Tablet Edition 2005) with SSE1 graphics cards. Full specs below.

Laptop Specs:

AMD Athlon XP-M 2200+ 1.67 MHz, 32 bit Windows XP Pro SP2/Tablet Edition 2005, SIS M741 (onboard/shared: 32 MB) graphics card with OpenGL 1.2 - SSE1 - Direct X 9c, DDR400 1024 MB RAM

Workbox PC Specs:

AMD Athlon XP 1250 1240 MHz, 32 bit Windows XP Pro SP2, BFG nVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 512MB 128-Bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card with OpenGL 2.0 - SSE1 - Direct X 9c, DDR400 3 G RAM

Maybe this will help you out, maybe not. Regardless, thank you for trying, and all your hard work.

Take care...
