Hi Jens, sorry for never feeding back on the beta before (only when there's bad news ;))

just downloaded the package but the blender app version errors with this report

Process: blender [598]
Path: /Users/xtian/Downloads/Blender_svn_31046+slgexport+luxblend25+pylux+python3.1_uni-intel_framework/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender
Identifier: org.blenderfoundation.blender
Version: ??? (???)
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [91]

OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.4 (10F569)

Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000

Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/Python
Referenced from: /Users/xtian/Downloads/Blender_svn_31046+slgexport+luxblend25+pylux+python3.1_uni-intel_framework/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/Python: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/Python: no matching architecture in universal wrapper

- I truncated the report with the spec of the computer...

I got a slightly different error to start with, but that indicated that python 3.1 wasnt installed so I downloaded and installed that (I only had 2.5)

On running again the report was as above - is my python installed wrong?

in regards to the earlier versions of slg (1.6.3b2) - it works great, have been having a lot of fun with it, mainly for checking models quickly - im working on a project with a lightwave crew right now and they're rendering using fprime so slg gives me a way to check that what im doing matches what theyre doing at least for the initial stages..

cheers

Oh man , oh man :)

If some would read my instructions :(......

I quote myself, o.k. ?
..contents....
- Python 3.1.1-framework (intel universal 32/64bit) for install by dragging it to Library/Frameworks (mandatory for this build !!! use the alias for convenience )

and furhter down:
!!! It got a bit huge cause i bundled the universal-intel Python3.1.1-framework which is not available elsewhere ( build myself ), this can also be used for Lux-developmemt
for boost/pylux/blender 2.5 needs it !!! Original Blender comes with static python, which will not work with pylux, so had no other choice !!!

You did install the python.org one, if you had read what they have you had seen 32bit i386/ppc, result: architecture not found, that simple....

Again: python.org offers no 64bit python-framework !!! So you must use mine !!!

If you have time, would be nice for an pre-build with new gpu only feature.
Thanks

Pointless until all materials are implemented in path_gpu. Let´s wait for the next milestone.

Hi Jens

I have a mac book pro Intel, running OS X 10.5.8. My graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256 of RAM.

I have downloaded your zip file, and copied the pyhton.frameworks to my frameworks folder as you say in your instructions.

Then I launch the blender that comes in your zip file, change my path for the executable file from SmallLuxGPU pointing to the "slg" file.
Changed my path to where the scene will be exported.
Created a sun light and delete any another source of light.
My scene is just a box and a plane with the sun light and the sky option enabled on my light.
So far so good.
Then I select my renderer to smallLuGPU and click render.
It takes the time of 00:00:04 to render and it doesn't show anything on the image editor. Neither a new window pop up from smallLuxGPU to show my scene rendering...

I went to terminal and run the same blender on it so see what messages I get when I launch Blender.

[Lux 2010-Aug-22 19:24:48] WARNING: LuxFire/Pyro library not available.
[Lux 2010-Aug-22 19:24:48] Using pylux version 0.7
[EF 2010-Aug-22 19:24:48] Render Engine "luxrender" initialised

And when I render:

SLGBP ===> launch SLG: /Users/digo/Desktop/../Downloads/blenders/Blender_svn_31046+slgexport+luxblend25+pylux+python3.1_uni-intel_framework/Smallux_1.6.2_dev/slg /Users/digo/Desktop/../Desktop/testscene/render.cfg
dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022

Is there anything that I am forgetting to install?
I don't have Python 3.1 installed in my leopard but I assume that your folder "python.frameworks" has everything that Lux render needs right?

Would you have any clue about what I could be missing here to make smallLuxGPU to render properly? :?

Thanks in advance and congratulations for all the work.

yes, for slg you forgot to install OSX 10.6 :) :)
Python 3.1 is needed for Blender 2.5 in general, the framework-version expecially for pylux. My drop-in framework satisfies these requirement.

--> so with your OS you can use LuxRender/pylux, but not slg cause you have no openCL ( see specs in first post --> - requirements: OSX 10.5 or higher, 64bit, Intel CPU , for SLG openCL rendering OSX 10.6 !!!
