Hi GBie..

I found some time to test your exporter, found a few issues:

- texture paths don't get exported, textures need to be in same folder as the scene file
- in the C4D Export options for Luxrender C4D asks for a "fluxrenderexport.str" that doesn't exists

The attached render is simple export of the village example scene in C4D10, textures getting imported into Lux, but they don't seem to be displayed.
I also used a null_object to determined the Sun Position, but sky, shadows & colors are far away from the referance. Using Lux 0.1 RC4, lux it warns me that PixelSampels aren't used... I uses random/random pixel sampler and killed all lightsources besides the sky before exporting.

Using the up to date weekly build Lux throws out a couple of warnings of missing values before crashing, see attachment.
(aren't there any default values in Lux hardcoded to use if the aren't provided via scenefile??)

Thanks for your work GBie, I'm looking forward to your next release :)

Hello,

Yes, almost all parameters have default values. Those warnings you're getting are actually parameters that were given but weren't used.
The weekly build has some differences with rc4, mainly the removed multiimage film, which makes some parameters useless.
But even so, lux shouldn't be crashing. I don't know if this is related to the exporter or not, though. More info on this would be appreciated. :)

hmmm,

This exporter has been lagging behind in development. :(

GBie, what's your current status ?
Is there anything we can help you with at this time ?

It would be handy if you could make it to the meeting today. :)

Hey Ratow, dumped all materials and textures of the scene and replaced them all by a single mat.
Now Scene Renders without any crash of Lux! Maybe the "old" Materials and material parameters translation table (http://jiri.nemrava.cz/luxc4d/luxrender_mats_exp.html) uses some older, dumped materials Lux doesn't support anymore in the newest versions...

hey,

what i'm thinking:

- your using a material which does'nt exist anymore.
- your using a preset of the 'metal' material which does'nt exist anymore, however it should use 'aluminium' by default so it's likeley not this...

hi,

have simple scene sphere without texture, export to lxs. But I can't open in luxrender, if open then immediately crash. why?

kkm

edit: use 10.5 latest update c4d and 32 bit, my window is 64 bit. is that problem?

Hi,

It might well be that the luxC4D exporter hasn't been kept up to date with the renderer fast development pace in the last months. Blender and Maya exporters are known to work and used a lot, there is currently some development activity for XSI, but I've not seen much development for C4D in a long time.

hey,

unfortunateley the C4D exporter was abandoned quite a while ago, so it's not current and it's not useable...
that's why it's not features anywhere in our release documentation...

there's nobody i know of currently active in our community to pick it up and develop it, so it's not an option at the moment...
check back in the future :)

Hey,

There is no mac exporter yet sorry...
We're working on getting a new C4D exporter developed as the current one is abandoned/unfinished...
