Blender 2.5 series exporter / LuxBlend future

(This post is targeted primarily at developers... blender users read below...)

Some of you know that I have been working on some prototype exporter code for integration with Blender 2.5.

I have heard also that some others may have started work in this area. In order to reduce work duplication and keep development efforts co-ordinated, I would like to invite anyone who has coded anything 2.5 compatible to come forward and discuss with us the following:

a) What you have achieved so far
b) How far you are willing to take the development
c) If you are willing to maintain the code in the long term
d) If we could merge/integrate all existing 2.5 code into a single exporter.

I will tell you up-front that I have already done some extensive work on a 2.5 'Exporter Framework' which in the long run should help reduce maintenance effort for several exporters across the board.
I have also coded many parts of the Lux-specific GUI panels (render settings).

Personally, I'd like to see the Exporter Framework adopted as Lux's way forward, especially if I am to going to be involved in future LuxBlend maintenance.

So far, the code I have is at the prototyping stage. Please don't ask for demos/betas yet - it's far too soon. I/We'll let you know as soon as there's something usable that you can test for us.

This is looking amazing already. Sadly I can't help with the programming side, just the testing, when it get's to that stage.

Anyway, I'm very pleased that you've took up the task of making a 2.5 exporter, this will surely bring a lot more people to blender and LuxRender. I understand that it's still in development, but do you think it would be possible to still keep the preset materials for LuxRender and to also have the preview material update for the Lux materials?

This looks great Doug. I wish I was a coder and could help.

Not planning on going to 2.5 until Lux can be used with it - even given that my ATI card wreaks havoc with LuxBlend (and any other Python window in 2.49). :)

I just pulled down all the code from the HG link.

None of the code works in the 2.5 alpha. I tried running UI.py and bootstrap.py.

How do I make use of this code?
Lux v0.6.1 (64 Bit)
Blender 2.49.2
Python 2.6.2
Windows XP64Bit SP1, 3Gb Ram, Intel DUO T9300 2.5Ghz
