Another luxmaya questions( Shading)

Postby doridarien » Sun Mar 22, 2009 8:28 pm

Hello everyone.

I have another questions i'd like to ask..

I have attached JPEG file which is modelled in maya and rendered in luxrender.

1)As the image shows the shadow on the sphere its saw shape shadow.

2)Floor texture, i changed the number of u.v coverage but it doesn't effect in luxrender.

3)how can i change the color of the shadow from the object.

can anyone answer me how to solve those problems?

Bytheway the white sphere and floor are maya phong material.

Thanks.

You should use the lux shaders in luxmaya, not the maya shaders.
regarding the saw shape, increase your mesh resolution.

you can't change shadow colours in luxrender as it's an unbiased renderer, it will always render the correct solution.

i thnk the visible faces on the sphere is also something to do with the single harsh lighting in the scene. Using different light types (actually, using a mesh object with the lux 'light' shader) should produce correct results.

I still plan to look at LuxMaya for 0.6 at some point, but I really have little time at the minute.

Hello,
Thanks for that.

Can anyone tell me how to modify tile texture? Repeating U.V doesn't render in luxrender.
and U.V texture editor doesn't show the map.

I think the only way to do it currently is to scale up your UV map. I.e. if you want it to repeat 12x then scale up 12x.

Which versions of luxrender and luxmaya are you using ?
i think an old version like 0.5 which is not very good, it's slow and does'nt look very good...

I've started working on some updates for luxmaya to be compatible with the upcoming 0.6 release. I'll announce here when it's ready.
