Yeah I know It doesnt look like much but 7 minutes is correct... Lux takes about 10minutes to load the 30mb file though ;)

Cheers!

you're saying it takes 17 min before the rendering even starts? that's way too much, if you ask me. when I export a simple rim (90.000 vertex's) it's starting with rendering within 13 seconds. LuxRender uses than 160MB work memory on my PC.
Cheers!

hm that model got 214400 triangles or 642000 vertices...no idea how that compares with other models though... What happens if you try to export 7 of your rims at once?

Zeven rims, with 779.565 vertex total. Around 20-30 sec in Blender and 55 sec in Luxrender to get starting.

1,3GB:

No way near 17 minutes....

I do want to highlight that I have a subsurf modifier in blender set on 2 (for render) and in luxblend materials on subdivision 0 and smooth.

This is on a CPU E8400 on 3Ghz (but it only uses one core, if I'm right)
Cheers!

Interesting! I would imagine that my coding isnt very speed optimized hence the 7 min to export the whole lot but I am stumped why it takes 10min to start the render. Just out of curiosity: how big is the .lxo file for your rims?

I did some more poking around and got a question to the Devs: When I start Luxrender from a batch file like this:
"C:/Program Files/LuxRender v0.5/luxrender.exe" -t 4 "C:\Users\jan\Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\Revit\LuxExporter\lxs testscenes\camera.lxs"
I get this messages running through for a got 10 minutes (see attachment)
But when I open the same file directly from Lux via file open it does not display thoses messages and starts to render in under 1 minute

Any ideas??

I've already asked once for those Mesh messages to be supressed - and then the change was reverted.

Outputting all those messages does slow down lux's startup quite considerably, however they seem to be considered "important" by certain devs.

I've submitted a patch for lux that will enable filtering out of certain messages. (ie. debug/info/warning/error etc).

Hi Dougal,

is it possible to have a switch which would force luxrender to suppress these status messages?

Otherwise I think I figured why I got them one way but not the other...I used to different lux versions

My patch for -V verbosity option has been merged into CVS today by Lotuspec.
