Bus Station - Competition Entry

We used luxrender at my firm to render the images for a design competition entry. The entry received SECOND PLACE. Just wanted to give a shout-out of thanks to the developers and excellent community here.

The competition was for a bus rapid transit stop in Indianapolis.

Jury comment, "Considered the most urban and edgy design of the submissions that is truly a product and reflection of its time." :D :D

That last image uses the Arbitrary Clipping Plane... not photoshop 8-) 8-) 8-)

Always great to see Lux used in professional work.
How does your pipeline look like, what's your modeler/exporter?

I think the most obious fireflies could have been avoided by using Path + clamping.
Judging from the noise and the shopped grass you were probably short on time - but despite that you managed to create an impressive visualization.

Short on time! :lol: :lol: We only spent 1 week on the whole thing modeling to photoshop. So yeah... the grass barely made it in.

I don't mind the noise, I find it helps give some realism sometimes.

Modeling - Rhinoceros 3D
Rendering - Luxblend / LuxCore on Windows 10
Post pro - Photoshop
Graphic design - InDesign

Btw, I went back and looked, I couldn't really find any noticeable fireflies. Were you referring to the fireflies in the sky because those are actually stars...

Beautiiful work! Here are some sections with noise, this may or may not be what he was referring to.

It still doesn't make the work anything short of amazing though. Many of these can be filtered in post processing too.

I agree, some artists even add noise in postpro. And metropolis noise looks very natural.

The only picture where they are obvious is the last one with arbitrary clipping plane. But they are only noticeable when viewing in 1:1, since the images are so large.
I think clamping could have eliminated them nicely.

Luxrender aside (and it's a very nice aside, to be sure) I love the design. To me, it hits on all notes.

With tweaking (as design trends change) the functional ideas can easily be incorporated into various architectural themes to fit different geographic areas while still producing the same easily recognizable functionality. That's elegant engineering :)
