another luxmaya question

Postby doridarien » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:09 am

Hi
since i join member here ive had lots of questions, and here is another question..

In maya i'm trying to create interior scene with background (textured plane image) outside window, and light with lux sun and sky,
but the plane (Textured background) is blocking the sun light so its casting shadow to the room.even i turn off the casting shadow attribute of the plane seems it doesn't work.
quite similar to this image. http://www.luxrender.net/gallery/main.p ... temId=1192.
the window and the background.
can anyone tell me how this can be done?

Hi,

Currently you have 2 options to have a fake background:
- use an environment map lighting
- composite a background in postpro (in which case you need to output the alpha channel and it'd be better to render with the premultiply alpha option turned on)

Hi,

I forgot to say that if you want to composite a background, your windows need to either have no glass (but you will miss the reflection of the interior), or use architectural glass. Standard glass won't work. With premultiply alpha on, your render will be black outside, that's ok.
