Website maintenance

Postby jeanphi » Fri Feb 07, 2014 3:11 pm

Hi,

As you might have noticed, the website site has been quite sloppy recently. We are going to switch the hosting provider rather soon now even if the exact time isn't yet fixed. Please expect the site to be down during the operations.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the new hosting will provide a better experience.

I want to thank dougal2 who has been offering the hosting up to now and danstermeister who has offered the new hosting.

Hi,

A first step has been done this evening to transfer the site to a new hosting facility. Unfortunately the process is not yet over and we'll have to do another shutdown of the site to complete it.
Sorry for the inconvenience, we hope it's all for the best in the end.

Hi,

The website hosting switch should now be over. Hopefully the new set up will allow the site to be much more responsive. Please report any issue, even minor ones, you might notice with the new site setup.

Thanks to all those who have made this possible.

We had a an outage this morning EST, the result of a drivespace issue where the large apache and mysql logs are kept. That's been fixed, mysql restarted, and the site is back up again.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Is there anywhere that the MySQL connection is not closed? I seem to be getting a lot of 'too many connections' errors recently.

Thank-you for the information, it is very helpful.

The number of simultaneous connections was not explicitly set in the configuration, so it defaulted to 100.

I have re-configured the .cnf file for 500 simultaneous connections.

I'm about to restart the server... I apologize if things go down for a second :/

Ok the server (mysql) has been restarted with the configuration change to 500 max_connections.

Please let me know if you still encounter that.

There's definitely something up. I hit the connection limit again yesterday.

Are you sure that DB connections are being closed when they're no longer needed?
