Just photorealistic. Looking forward to the tutorial, I guess there are some things you can teach me :)

Re: Jade Tutorial

Hello all,

I have finally uploaded the tutorial - any thoughts? I am still rendering one last image but that should be up soon enough.

http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/Jade_material

Once a few people have looked at it for a sanity check, I will link to it from the main page.

Quick question: How can I have a link to a .blend and a .exr file on the wiki? I would like it if people could mimic the tutorial perfectly.

Cheers!

Yes, great work! :)

I read through it and it all seems to make sense, although I haven't tried reproducing the material so far. I fixed some minor issues like capitals for Blender and LuxRender but overall it is a very clear read. Once you've added the final image and the links to the .blend and .exr I'd say it's ready to be linked from the main wiki page.

You can attach them to a forum message (for example in this thread) and then link to that attachment directly from the wiki.

I noticed you have updated the links and added the link and as multiple people have looked at it I've added link. Thanks a lot for having created this tutorial! :)

Glad I could help out. Luxrender is a great piece of software and hopefully I can make it. 0.00000001% better :-D

Ill look into making some more images for the documentation soon.

Cheers

Hi

I see there nice reflection on Glossy Translucent material and was wondering how do turn it on / enhance the reflectance effect.
While Glass2 has clear reflection with exponent 250k, Glossy Translucent seems to have none

Increase spec color/IOR or lower roughness.

My bad, i assumed specular color is not used when "use IOR" is enabled. :)

EDIT
Seems like ior 3-4 gets sharper reflections.
Ok but why the ior 1.5 on glass2 vs on glossy translucent look so different?
