Wow, Rhys! Me thank you too. :) Maybe there are good resources of free good quality blender models (especially for archviz and interior design)? My sources mostly are:

Glad you liked em.

Maybe there are good resources of free good quality blender models (especially for archviz and interior design)?

Theres some sites out there but they've 'not proper' feeling. I do wonder where they got all their thousands of models, that are not consistent either. so I dont like them. ;)

I pulled down some of the HDRi images and I want to use them as my environment light.

I imported the HDR file into Blender and saved them out as EXR file. Then I browse to the converted EXR file (which is about 6-8 times larger in filesize than the HDR version) and assign it as my map file.

So now the questions.

I assume I should use latlong with these images? Is this true, or do I need to map the EXR file into yet another format?
They certainly are not angular maps but what is vcross all about?

Also I see a rotation parameter. What does it rotate. The environment sphere along the latitude or longitude?
Is the rotation value in degrees, radians or some Lux format?

Some better tooltips in LuxBlend could certainly clear up some of these basic questions.

This is an example of what the HDRi file looks like. Is this in the latlong format?

I guess I have figured out a couple things.

You need to use latlong with these kinds of HDRi/EXR maps.

Rotation does appear to be in degrees around the longitude of a spherical projection. It would be nice if Lux supported rotation in both directions. Some times I want to adjust the horizon line, but do not want to move the camera.

Here is the above attached image applied to a scene with 180 degrees of rotation.

Ill do that.

Atom- yeah most of these hdr are latlong/equirectangular.
Interestingly though they are rendered FLIPPED horizontally for some reason in lux, some other renderers do too though, Why?
