Rampage IV Extreme

Postby QBobWatson » Mon Mar 05, 2012 5:09 pm

This is a sequel to this post: http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7887

It's a Rampage IV Extreme with a Swiftech Apogee XT waterblock. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Technically this is still a work in progress since I'm mocking up a whole computer build, but this is by far the most detailed component, so I thought it should count as a final render. Should I post it to the gallery?

Complete with auto-overheat button, yes?

I'd say go for it, and post to the gallery, though you might want to hold back the finished computer when it's done. IIRC, there may be a contest for a Lux showcase image - if the rest of it is as good as this and the last one have been, I reckon you'd be in with a very good chance. If you had a case window, or a coolant tank outside of the main tower (I'm guessing it'll be full tower as you're water-cooling and putting in an RoG mobo), you could get some translucent stuff in there as well, just to show off some of those. But I'm rambling here - the main thing I want to say is it looks great.

One small criticism though: The 3.5mm sockets look too shiny? All of the ones I've seen are a lot duller and a bit rougher than that.

Maybe a little (more?) bevel on the edges of the IO connectors blocks, they look even sharper than on real boards. :O :P

Yeah, some more bevel here and there would be nice, and RoG logo is better be done with extruded curves rather than displacement -- it's visually very pixelated.
