GlassExpert. Exteriors

Postby SATtva » Tue Nov 15, 2011 12:37 pm

This is another part of that project, this time dealing with exteriors. I haven't prepared all images for the portfolio yet, so won't post all at once. (All environments are from openfootage.net.)

For now it's Engineering Center. The whole project with all objects took almost a year (was suspended a few times by the client), these images were rendered with 0.8-dev in the late 2010. I've used FLMs now to adjust WP and apply some CRFs. As with interiors, background wasn't required, but i kept it here for the portfolio.

And out of a pure experiment, BW versions:

I like those black and white ones alot. It brings a sense of curiosity making you wonder what colours should be there, even though one would suspect blues. I think if you added some DOF to the black and white ones it would give it a neat old-school look. Amazing work!

Agreed, light DoF would be a plus, especially for the last one. I just don't want to rerender any of the images.

Fantastic work! How did you get the blues in the glass to be different?

All the glass is actually a shinymetal mat with slightly different settings for specularity, reflection and roughness (i can show the settings if you're interested). I haven't modelled building's internals as this would be out of the budget, but hopefully achieved the desired effect -- windows are darker than decorative panels as part of the light goes inside the interior and less is reflected off the surface.

Another piece of masterwork!

And I second paco: brilliant idea to use a shiny metal!

Very versatile material. Is my understanding correct that it's now possible to replicate its properties with mirror+glossycoating?
