Mr. Snippy

Postby B.Y.O.B. » Mon Jan 19, 2015 4:28 pm

Hi,

maybe some of you know the webcomic "Romantically Apocalyptic".
Mr. Snippy is probably the character I like best, and I started to model his mask a few months back, but never used it until now.
When I was at home during christmas, I made a photo of myself while walking in the woods, planning to do this with it:

This was also, of course, one of my tests of API 2.x mode in LuxBlend (with brand new support for linked meshes that I've not even commited yet).

Render statistics:
PathOpenCL + Sobol
rendering time 4 minutes
700mb VRAM used by LuxRender
render resolution: 3264x4326 (downscaled for this forum of course)

This is the original render output and the AOVs used:

edit: Since I ended up changing a lot after this version, here's the finished product:

Cool stuff! Maybe slight defocus (or even simple blur) to the rendered part will help to better merge it with the photo.

I did that, also improved the snow and overall lighting a bit:

GPU is 7970 GHz, I'm using the latest Omega drivers (no beta drivers).
I can't look up polycount and texture size right now.

700mb VRAM is too much for a so little project !

I asked myself if i can used luxcore GPU and amd for big project with many hight poly cars trees and object !
