But to know if GPU computing would be an advantage in this case we would have to know strahlentherapeut's graphics card specs.

But according to this quote the scene would not even fit into a graphics card's RAM:

I thought the size of the card's RAM didn't matter.

Of course it does. With Lux in Hybrid mode all geometry must fit in GPU RAM (taking into account it doesn't support instancing); with SLG all geometry + textures + frame buffer must fit in GPU RAM.

See, that's what I first thought, but then someone said some thing that implied it didn't (though, in light of what you said, I probably misinterpreted it). Oh well, thanks for clearing that up.

EDIT: HERE's the post that confused me.

@strahlentherapeut

Would you share to Scene the test it with Cycles (GPU) ?

Kind regards

Didn't I write it in my post ? ;-)
It's ok if you are not interested in a Cycles comparison.

Hi Alain,

no interest is perhaps said too much, but I have to try to render the scene with cycles. There are to many textures and materials to assign them. The whole scene file is very large. To large to send it. In addition, there is a completed work. No test file. I just do not want to send files like that. But by the way. It does not look good rendered with cycles.

If you know it doesn't look good in Cycles then you can post a screenshot of it ? ;-)

There are a few comparisons between Yafaray and Cycles:
http://www.yafaray.org/community/forum/ ... f=5&t=4494
http://www.yafaray.org/community/forum/ ... f=6&t=4666

I don't think Cycles is that bad that you can't show it ;-)
And I don't think that there are SO many materials in your Scene to setup ;-)
Materialsetup in Cycles is pretty easy and FAST.

Kind regards
