Automotive rendering/shadowcatcher

Postby sharlybg » Sat Dec 03, 2016 12:53 pm

Hello guys !

i'm trying to create correct automotive rendering via shadowcatcher and Hdri. lighting is correct atm. but i struggle to have perfect match between my render output and the background. Is there any way to choose a proper background and set the camera at the good angle and position do i need to use the HDRi as the back ground ?

My horrible result :

You could use BLAM to align your camera to the background image: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeWzQYh7iH0

Thanks a lot i give it a try.

I've done a manual camera positiong by using original background EXIF camera lens data. This the result:

The tires are sunk a tiny bit into the ground.
Otherwise it looks a lot better.

Yes i use this as an easy way to simulate car weight compression on tires. I've done some minor change on the car geometry as my wife told me that the car lower front is strange. i think it look really really nice now ! will post it on Blenderartist to. ;) i love luxcore.

Looks pretty good, except 1 thing throws it off a bit for me, is that the pavement is raised compared to the road, but the car's placement acts like it isn't there.

I highlighted where the pavement/gutter would be here:

I don't think that's how weight compression works on tires, see e.g. http://www.autoinfluence.com/wp-content ... s-road.jpg
There is almost no visible impact on the tire.

I'm not sure, but maybe the light on the car is not as yellow as the light in the background?
Did a quick paintover.
