Hi,

Looks like your scene is too large for your GPU:
Code: Select all
[2013-02-06 18:39:20 Debug: 0] [LuxRays] [OpenCL device::GeForce GTX 680Intersect] Rendering thread ERROR: clEnqueueReadBuffer(CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES)

Ok, so the problem is in the nVidia driver that crash in OOM condition :( Unfortunate, during the 10 seconds of rendering before crashing the speed was amazing :) Will stick on CPU so. :cry:

Thanks anyway for the very quick answer !

I have seen NVIDIA's driver reports CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES in the most strange cases in the past. Sometime it was happening for QBVH stack overflow. You could also run out of local GPU memory (just 32Kbytes in many GPUs). You should try to use BVH accelerator instead of QBVH or to increase QBVH stack size. I must admit, at the moment, I don't remember how to set BVH accelerator in hybrid rendering.

Did a test to confirm, latest hg is definitely brighter than 1.1:

(ignore those orange spots, those are un-converged hits on some very weak, low-importance lights)

I can also confirm the fix on my original scene -- the results are identical.

Can you reproduce the brightness difference vs v1.1?

Haven't tested it specifically, but, as i said, we have this regression since sometime after 0.8 release. So it shouldn't surprise that Bidir now is brighter than in 1.1 -- that's because it was darker than it should be.

Just a note, testing Lord's new build viewtopic.php?p=92264#p92264, hybrid path remains misbehaving in the same way.

Hi,

Yes, hybrid path still has some serious flaws, but they are not regressions introduced in v1.2. Worth fixing, but it is puzzling me.

Hasn't Dade resolved the problem in his latest commit? (Only OSX weekly includes it at the moment.)
