bercom maps shaders

Postby patro » Tue May 25, 2010 3:15 am

hi all,
I hope to don't post this thread in the wrong section.... sorry!!
I'm a 3ds max user... and I use the "bercom maps shaders" their free and open source and source code is also available!! noise, wood, cellular... etc... http://www.ylilammi.com/BerconMaps.shtml

Just so that you don't waste time on stuff that doesn't exist or can't be implemented:
- matte objects: there a trick which allows to override the alpha value of a pixel, but it will only work with the distributedpath integrator
- native/third party textures won't be supported as we don't have access to the code and even if we had, we wouldn't be able to include it in LuxRender

is there a way to get it to work in luxrender??

the shaders library are Apache 2.0 License... see post: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3984&start=10#p45514
so they can be used on free and commercial 3d application.... and they are a little bit more complex compared to the one shipped with 3d packages!
this give a certain warranty to Luxrender user to move/migrate through 3d application... by maintaining the same work art!

thank you!!!

ciao

Seems some parts of the code are GPL-licensed.

Hi,

I created a task in mantis. We'll have to check licensing and see if it's not too similar to existing textures.

@jeanphi
:..................... and see if it's not too similar to existing textures!!
the bercom maps are more complex and detailed from other similar maps packaged with 3d software!!!
but I guess that this is the only one solution for us 3ds max user... to use this kind of shaders... like blender user I suppose just do!!
It would be nice if some one can rewrite this shaders for other 3d softwares!!
