it almost makes me think its time to rethink some aspects of the UI, on one hand a minimal UI might be best but at the same time it might be worth thinking about expanding it in some way to support various features that are not supported in the exporters or modeling packages in cases where these features are not just a matter of implementing them in the exporters, again, just something to think about

it can actually give much improved convergence with detailed maps or the few textures supporting it (no blender texture supports it though)

I'm not yet dropping raydifferentials eventhough it's going to be much less used

JeanPhi, are we going to drop the RayDifferential thing ? It always looked like an over-shoot to me (and doesn't work with BiDir).

I'm currently working on it, but its huge, I need to extend lots of interfaces and do lots of math

SATtva: i rechecked: bump only fails for bricks with bidir, other tex look the same, so i guess there is a problem with bricks/bidir specifically

damn, didn't read your question carefully, thought you have a problem with the texture overall, not just bumps :[

jens, i just tested the new weeklies (will upload them tomorrow evening) and new bricks work well on both bidir and path... the only issue with bidir is shallower bumps as usual

it is not that we need anything 'made easier' to complete the exporter. unfortunately the major constraint right now if programmer time :(

I've been following it for a while now. I'm just looking for an estimate. Will we have something to crash soon or maybe with beta 4, which is render focused and maybe the exporters will be made easier?
