Achieving the lost realism

Hi, all!

About an year ago I tested SmallLuxGPU and got a pretty realistic image with it:

Old realistic image with SmallLuxGPU.


My first image with LuxRender was this one:

But now it seems the images are no more realistics:

Any ideias why?

Lol. Sorry, but i don't see any difference and any reason why the former ones are more realistic than the latter ones. Simply rerender those old images -- the result will be the same.

IMHO you need textures and better materials, also the geometry is not that realistic (sharp edges, way too perfect and too simple).
I also agree with SATtva, nothing has changed with Lux that would have changed you renders...

I lost the ".blender" of the old images, so I can't rerender them. =/

I made a similar scene, but I still think the old ones are MUCH better.

losing a blend can kinda suck. Its almost too bad there is not a way to run the exporter in reverse and convert meshes back into something blender can use.

I do not know programming so sadly I cannot do that.

sorry but this topic is a joke,
You can look in the gallery to see examples of great realistic images created with Luxrender.
The true question/title should be, "How to make my scenes more realistic?"
If that is indeed what your are looking for i am sure many users will help you with tips/advices on how to do that (even though the "problem" atm is not on the renderer but on your modeling/materials/texturing/lighting skills ).

Sorry, Moure. I never wanted to say that your little child can't render awesome pics. ;)
LuxRender is amazing. That's why I am here.

The point is that, as far as I remember, I am doing the same thing as before, but getting uglier pics. So I thought it could be some kind of config I needed to do. Maybe a change in the behavior of the render, in the new 64bits version, or in the blender 2.5 exporter, dunno. There are many things that can change and will force you to adapt to get the same results.

But you're comparing apples and oranges.

The old scenes were better constructed, which is the primary reason they look better. I'm thinking mostly about lighting and material choices.
May contain traces of nuts.
