Lost at Sea

Postby zeealpal » Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:31 am

Here is a render I made from random things put together, with no real idea what I wanted it to be until the end.

Thatnk's to Lux's HDR output, tweaking in Photoshop is alot nicer for the light/shadows etc...

Here is the original tone mapped render, and then the Photoshop post-processed render:

I agree, the water is nice, but the waves are scaled too large for that to be anything but a toy boat. It just throws the scale off for me.

I think the ship (as the viewer's main attraction point in the image) is a bit off the centre. I think the composition of the objects could be better.
I also don't like the very sharp lensflares in the second one.
The ice could be a bit more detailed, maybe a simple procedural clouds texture as a bumpmap could do this job.

But it has a nice mood.

I thought it was meant to be a toy boat anyway. The flat section at the bottom left looks like the water's against a pane of glass in a bowl or something...

Also, where does one get OceanSim?

Thanks for the comments guys :) It was cobbled together quite quickly with no particular meaning, but I thought it turned out ok xD

Also the boat was not meant to be 'real'
