Absolutely! I just hope the matdb can handle it.

yes, it can! and this is why we had to change/upgrade to lrmdb2 and lbm2 formats, they still work even if features are added to lux at a later date (so long as the syntax remains consistent).
However, the preview rendering script/VM needs updating with a new lux build otherwise the preview renders will be wrong.

I have two questions:

1) is microdisplacement supported, too?

2) Do material with textures have to be automatically mapped (meaning the user when loads the lbm2 file doesn't need to uv map manually)?

Hm... what about mix materials? And volumes, do they work?
Because I want to do a material wich uses glossycoating, and that needs a second material as a base.

I don't think volumes work, as when I tried to export a mtl with volumes, volumes were not there when imported, does any1 know how to fix this ?

IIRC, it handles volumes, I think the lb25 importer has a problem with reattatching them. (they'll be in the list, but you have to put them back on manually)

Displacement and microdisplacement are mesh options and are not handled by the lbm2 file.

Mix mats work.....I think?

IIRC is short for "if I remember correctly". Sorry if I misunderstood your question and you knew that.

Ok, got the preview script up and working natively on my workstation, using the my usual pylux symlinked in from my build dir.

Translation: we can now render previews of mats using any feature that exists in the repo.
