LuxRender CVS build of 02-07-2008

Hi all,

Built with VS2005 (microsoft compiler) for SSE2 architecture of CVS HEAD on 02-07-2008.

This is the first update after v0.5 release :)

IMPORTANT! : Due to new tiff loading support on windows, you have to get some additional DLL files to run the engine. I've updated the dll package here:
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=553

For use with CVS luxblend exporter v1.98(CVS) here (UPDATED): http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/*che ... root=ecume
(Please report any issues with the exporter in the luxblend development forum)

UPDATES SINCE LAST WEEKLY BUILD (last weekly build was 15-06-08, then v0.5 release a week ago)

summary:

- Rewritten bidirectional path tracing integrator, should be much better, this needs testing, please help. (by Jeanphi)
- experimental importancepath integrator (photonmapping + path tracing) by Dade, needs testing too.
- experimental distributedpath integrator by Radiance.
- support for loading tiff file format textures on windows too. (Radiance)
- support for volumes in path integrator. (fix by Dade)
- hilbert pixelsampler by Dade.
- halt_spp/set enough pixel option in gui menu by Dade.
- optimizations to exphotonmap integrator by Dade.
- plastic material behaves better. (Jeanphi)
- exphotonmap renders glossy surfaces via additional rays instead of photonmap. (Dade)
- exphotonmap now uses D65 SPD. (Dade)
- more bugfixes.

Bidir MLT is 30% faster compared to v0.5 (in my quick test) :D
some Bidir tests should be ready till night - currently arch. glass doesn't work for me, but I've seen your WiP Radiance, so I suppose that's easy to solve.

Hi,

Architectural glass does not currently improve rendering with bidirectional path tracing. It could introduce bias and since this integrator is very new I don't want to mulitply sources of artefacts too early.

I noticed that these files are still listed as v 0.1. Shouldn't they be v0.5?

Also, shouldn't Luxblend_0.1.py be updated to Luxblend_0.5.py?

As we talked about weekly OSX-builds better be in a seperate thread to
avoid they are not in sync, i removed this post.

Will open another thread with actual OSXintel builds later and try to be
in sync with radiances weekly-win.

thanks jens :)

I updated luxblend in CVS with the darwin launching patch, so you can leave out the exporter of the package next time.
please also post these in different threads as it's difficult to find them,
and they're not in sync with the windows build posted here. (5 days later, many cvs fixes)
