Yep you are right, this is a problem. I think you can contact Suvakas better over the indigo forum. If you found the solution post it in here, Im also interested into it.

I edited my latest post by adding a note.... it's useless to contact him... since he used a trick... only useful when using a single override material.
it could be a request for a new tool for Luxrender... to add it directly in window UI... like the gamma, the color space etc., or as sub tool in light group... to increase contrast on each lights separately.

what do you think about Tomb... is this request affordable in this way.

edit:
I also try in light group to play with the sky color using the color piker tool.
is an alternative with limitation... the color will added also to the whole sky... also on the horizon transition part.
for example... it could be useful for create the background of a desert scenario while a sand storm. like in the attached image below.
but it's useless for increasing the blue intensity of the sky.

hi xray,
to increase the blue of the sky... there is only a way... through the color piker in light group sky.
see the linked post... for more example

Hi,

You can also play with the aconst, bconst, ... parameters of the sky.

Hi,

Maybe those parameters should be renamed horizonbrightness, horizonsize, sunbrightness, sunsize and backscatter respectively to give a hint about their influence. Let me think a bit about it before starting to implement it in an exporter. Those are currently not exported so it shouldn't be much of a hassle to change their name.

in LuxMax we have "relative size" for sun and also for sky... but always sun related... is it different from sunsize?

I advice Hedphelym to wait about adding the new sky parameter.

Hi,

Yes it's different, the current relative sun size applies to the sun light (not the sky), while the dconst parameter applies to the sun halo in the sky.

well... what about also to add this sky parameter in Luxrender render window?... so we can play on the fly with all value.
it could be taken as request for a future version of Luxrender like the 0.9 or the 1.0

That would make it very easy to understand.
