LuxRender v0.1 CVS build of 12-05-2008

Postby Radiance » Mon May 12, 2008 6:45 am

Hi all,

Built with VS2005 (microsoft compiler) for SSE2 architecture of CVS HEAD on 12-05-2008.

Download the DLL's to run it in a separate archive here: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=553

For use with CVS luxblend exporter vCVS HEAD here: http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/*che ... root=ecume
(Please report any issues with the exporter in the luxblend development forum)

this exporter contains zuegs's new procedural texture editing stuff, it's very new and not documented/tested thouroughly, please post issues regarding this in the luxblend forum too.

This luxrender binary is slightly unstable, you may experience a crash when closing lux or when removing a thread, we're working on this.

UPDATES SINCE LAST WEEKLY BUILD

- dade's initial photon mapping integrator
- jeanphi's updates to 'bidirectional' integrator
- tweaks/cleanups by dade and radiance
- named materials in lxm files
- 3d texturespace options for 3d texture mappings.

Have fun!,
Radiance

hey,

Apparently zuegs forgot to add a negative vscale translation to the uv map export params in the rewritten texturing code of luxblend.
i'll correct and post a new version after work :)

you can fix this for now by using a value of '-1.0' in the 'Vs' field under the '2dmap' option of the imagemap in your material

Bug? Or am i doing something wrong....

If you take a close look you can:

A: See the faces
B: See tearing?? The mesh is fine so is it something luxrender is doing?
C: See striping accross the top when using dots (no example for that yet)

hey,

please post a screenshot of your material / gui so i can see what you're doing :)

there could be some small issues with the mesh, i haven't cleaned it up perfectly,
although haven't seen any of them yet on my renders :)

Hi,

I committed an update to luxblend which fixes the vscale 1.0 to vscale -1.0 for default.
Please download luxblend again from the link in the first post here to obtain the new version.

(you might want to check if the previous version has'nt 'saved' any wrong value in your scenes. (the version i posted yesterday),
if you haven't used it yet on a saved scene, you should be sweet)

gustav -> i'll reply in couple of hours i need to test this propperly first :)

very nice, pinko,

EDIT: what kind of system do you have ? (CPU and how may threads for 7 hours) ?

if you want you can try with these parameters:

use a larger image size (at least 1024x768) :)
in engine options:
set 'filter' to 'gaussian' and xwidth to 1.5 and ywidth to 1.5 (to get rid of the black rings around the lights)
set maxdepth to '9' and enable the button 'usevariance'. (this should be faster)

you also need to tweak your materials a bit more, the painting on the wall looks very dim.
would be cool if you can let this render clean, for the gallery :)
