LuxC4D: material bitmap file?

Postby shtl » Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:11 am

Hello there.
My first tests with a unbiased renderer. I'm very happy with everything, light flow, lux exporter integration and so on. Great job!

OK, after testing some simple files, like chrome sphere on a chessboard plane and teacups ^^ now i tried some old c4d scene files.
I realize the lux log can't open many current bitmap files (tif, psd, .hdr). Since LUX output goes PNG I started to convert some bitmaps into PNG, and it works well. (also had to bake many procedurals, bit of pita but I read they're no other way hun? ...)

So, my question is, what type of bitmaps file are usable within Lux ? Couldn't find no list, so if some one nows something?

My trouble is that I'm used to PSD multilayered bitmaps, witch works very fine with c4d AR3 and with Vray4C4D. Is there any plan to support this type of file in near future?
Also, are 16 bits bitmaps supported? They are so many things to tests, If someone already knows...

Another question:
I read area lights are supported? Can't make them render. :(
Same with mesh source. Is there a tutorial or something about this workflow?

THX !

As of version 0.7RC2 LuxRender supports Tiff and HDRI as well.

PSD is a closed proprietary format, so I highly doubt so.

Ow... tiff works? maybe an extention trouble than? I'll test it again. As for HDR too. Thanx for feedback.

OK than. And as for tiff multilayers? Any clue?
Well, anyhow, since I use it with mograph Multi Shader and layer selection, even so Mograph cloners works well, might be tough job.
Again thanks for fast feedback.

I'll go back to my tests then

Just a little feedback: indeed TIFF works, but for mac users, just check out that the extension is set to ".tif" nor ".tiff" ! that's all ! :P
