Hej, you have done a great job so far. I have some scripts, like outputting the procedural textures into files, and so on, if you need something like that just drop a line.
Regarding geometry export. I dont know how many people implemented it so far, after you done with the geom exporter, I think it would be advisable to make it multithread ready. (if it isnt yet)

Are you planning on releasing the source code?

Great exporter, but the biggest downside though is that it's very very slow on export.

Yes I want to release the source. Its just a mater of me getting submit access to the branch.

I know its slow and I'll work on that part of the code alot. Thing is I have to do all kind of tricks to sort vertices and face so they match the multimaterial nature of max and also work at the end with Luxrender subdivision and displacement. So far I fail :)

I can scrap the subdivision support for now and get it to export quite faster if nobody mind?

You should contact JeanPhi, it shouldn't be a problem at all to created a dedicated repository for LuxMax at http://src.luxrender.net/

The speed is the thing that sets me back from using it.
I want to integrate it into our workflow, and we have massive scenes,
it works OK on small scenes, but not on large.

And it's important to test it in large models.

Ok I'll break the subdivision and get it to export faster. Should be straight forward until I have a better understanding of how to get the exporter to sort and write efficiently.

Could you also have a sticky thread with the newest release always in the top post?
Makes it much easier to find the newest release(s).

thanks for moving ahead on getting the speed issues solved :)

hi Perpixel..
luxrender is in a new development phase.... the 0.7
jinj wrote:hi, I have a problem..
any of the cvs since luxrender 0.6 run well for simple scenes.
but if I try to open a complex scene, with mapped obj luxrender crash immediately.
the same scene opened with luxrender 0.6 version run well without problem.
sorry no log error.
any idea jinj

PS: I export my scene from 3ds max trough luxmax

Lord Crc wrote:The scene file format has seen a few significant changes since 0.6. For instance, a lot of the textures changed from being color based to gray scale. Without something more concrete I'm guessing one (or more) such change is the culprit.

thx, jinj
