It's an interesting question indeed!
I think the answer is probably not very encouraging and probably will not help.

Wow.

So, uh, I come back to the forums after last posting in April, and this is the first thread I read. That's kind of alarming.

Hi,

As you probably have seen by now, we have released v0.6RC6 and we are polishing it some more for the final release, the project is well alive.

I'm sure everybody will be interested in this: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=168057

(I hope this hasn't already been posted!)

I have no idea why radiance left, but hopefully nothing sinister went on.

One niggling question i have is does he believe that starting a new project will be the best way to implement gpu accelerated renderering?

Thanks lfrisken for your link, very interesting!

Hmm, this however raises another question in my mind: why all this mistery around radiance's decision?
Is there anything that must be hidden under the carpet and cannot be told?

I'd have found more "normal" to just say to Lux community "hey guys, radiance left the Lux project to start another one".
Unless, of course, there's more than simply this... ;)

Anyway, I'm a bit puzzled and surprised.

Ciao,
Piero

The reasons Radiance gave in the above thread are honest and straightforward. I don't think this needs any further discussion.
