Again without good typography, but had not enough time for such a regular research. Mea culpa.

I made typography for the last proposal - regarding to Codygo's suggestion ("Even fonts reminiscent of typographic labels on camera lenses would be interesting.") and being inspired by engraving techniques I used modded by me ISOCPEUR font.
By the way I made some tweaks on old ideas and created several new pics - some of them are refering to photography (4-7), some to physical nature of light (2- diffraction pattern; 3- 3D sinusoidal wave)...
Have some more ideas, but I'm slowly loosing control over my body due to lack of sleep.

i like the number 2, good icon !
about the typo, maybe we should make differents versions, can you tell us which is the typo data ? is it a free one ?

In general, we have to make the logo variations:
- all black/white logo
- color icon and black text
- All color logo

by the way, maybe we can make a 3D icon set varation !

If by "typo data" You mean a "font", it's free and it's called ISOCPEUR.

should be a start for the logotype...try to apply some fonts to go with it !
