This is my first post.
I'm french and I'm using c4d since 1999 ! I have the last release c4d 11.5 and AdvancedRender3. After looking at very realistic pictures made with LuxRender (impossible to do with AR3) I've tried to install Lux but :
- the path for the app is not found !
- After exporting a little scene, when I open it in LuxRender, the app quits immediately !

I'm on mac OS 10.5.8

Which version of LuxRender are you using?

Hmm, then I don't know what's going on. Can you send me the C4D scene that caused the trouble via PM? I will then try to find out, where the problem is. I hope you used the plugin version 0.06b from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2730

1/ The path of the app Luxrender still not found

2/ Export C4D > LuxRender : Ok

3/ Open C4D scene into Luxrender : Ok. For this point I think it's because the name of my file contains "é". I've changed "é" > "e" et it rocks !

Interesting - point 3 tells me that there is a problem with the Mac build. I will try to reproduce that, when I'm at home again.

Regarding the "path not found" error message: Have you set up the full path to LuxRender under Plugins -> LuxC4D -> LuxC4D Preferences...?

Concerning materials. Do you keep two different color settings for each object? This is the way LuxBlend works. You have the original Blender object with its own color/material then you have the LuxBlend material for the object. It is easy for these to get out of synch just make a change in LuxBlend and the color you are rendering is no longer the color you see in your scene. I am wondering, are you planning on emulating this model or will you simply synchronize the diffuse/specular color of an object between the two systems?

Hi Atom,

at the moment there is only the materials of C4D which get converted to Lux materials during export, i.e. they are automatically in sync. Of course, the disadvantage of this is that all the Lux specific features are not available this way. For that reason I basically want to extend the C4D material system, which will then allow you to set Lux specific things and get at least an approximate representation in C4D.

This seems to be a Lux specific problem as I haven't managed yet, to open Lux directly with a file, i.e. that Lux starts, loads the specified file and starts rendering (as the behaviour is on Windows). You can't do it via terminal or finder either. I will have a closer look at it.

I also couldn't reproduce the problem with the special character in the file name. -> If you still have a C4D file that, after conversion to .lxs, crashes Lux, could you please send it to me via PM? Thanks.

I think I have to update 0.06 again a bit, as at least the parameter name for UV coordinates changed and distant lights don't work anymore. -> There will be a 0.06c soon.

Marcus
