Hi,

I'm not sure here, but I think the blue objects are have no material assigned. In C4D they appear grey, but get exported as light blue objects. This was a change I made for testing and forgot to revert before release. The same should happen with other lights not only with sun+sky. To solve the problem just put a material on the object or group those "material-less" objects under a null object and assign a standard grey to the null object. The next version will export objects without materials with a 80% grey matte material.

At the moment the Luminance channel of a C4D material doesn't get exported as I didn't know how to do it. In the next version it will be included.

You can create pure area lights of any shape you want though. They will be exported correctly.

Hi Voolger,

To question 1: Yes, the plugin is open source. You can download the current source from here: http://www.luxrender.net/hg I have to update the Mac build files, though.

To question 2: No, that's not possible, because the API of CE6 is quite limited and completely different to the API of R8 and higher. The reason is that, with R8, the description parameter system was introduced in C4D and almost everything in C4D was adapted to it. As the plugin is open-source, feel free to use it as a base to write an exporter for R5 - R7.

thanks for the info.

i have c4d ce6 on my machine since the days it was on the 3dworld cd in 2003 or 2004. I found an c4d exporter for povray that some one wrote in coffee. I have no programing experience except the odd compiling of a prgremm in linux e.g. povray or pyhton from source.

What else would I need in order to compile on windows besides the relevant c4d 6.3 sdk?
I guess on my old ppc os9 and ppc osx machine, code warrior would be just right.
What would I need on windows?
