Google Reader doesn't show any posts in Development forum?

Postby ingenious » Thu Mar 01, 2012 5:46 pm

I just posted a topic in the Development and I noticed that I've never seen any RSS post from there, and these are in fact the most interesting forums for me :(

When I open the feed in Firefox, I can see my own post, but Google Reader doesn't show it, nor any other posts in that forum. What could be wrong?

Also, Google Reader doesn't seem to differentiate between the feeds

feed.php

and

feed.php?f=8

which makes it impossible to subscribe to the Architecture & Design forum :(

It may be because some of the sub-forum is not visible without a registered account. I don't really know why this limitation was decided at the very beginning of the project but it has never been changed over the years.

It may be the time to just open all forums (also because if they are private, the will never show up in google results).

Actually we did open them some time ago, they are read-only for unregistered users.

Not sure what we can do about that. Glancing over the Atom standard, this seems to be a bug in Google Reader.

Seems really like a Google Reader problem. I managed to circumvent it by creating a simple Yahoo pipe that just grabs the main LuxRender RSS feed, and subscribed to that pipe's feed in Google Reader. I can see posts in the Development forum. Will test for a while and report back.

I asked on the Google support forums, and they said luxrender web server appears to be blocking their requests. Here's the actual discussion:

Can please some admin take a look into this?

This could be the reason, but then both Yahoo Pipes can access the feed, and also opening the feed URL

feed.php?f=8

in a browser where I'm not logged in works nicely. So I doubt this is the reason. Maybe there's some specific phpBB setting for Google Reader?
