Convert VRML 2.0 files

Postby fanou » Sat Mar 08, 2008 10:38 am

Hi Folks,

I have some VRML 2.0 files I would like to render with luxrender.
But I don't know how to convert them to .lxo files.

It seems that Blender only handles VRML 1.0.
I also tried Paraview which handles VRML 2.0 to convert to .ply and then use Blender, but the Ply plug-in within Paraview only exports vertices and not normals.
And I need normals.

Does someone know the solution ?

PS: Thanks for your hard work.

Hi,

you could try to generate OBJ files from ParaView. Or take a look at MeshLab.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

AFAIK, Paraview cannot generate OBJ files directly. You must first generate a PLY file.

I'll take a look at Meshlab. It seems that the parser for X3D files can also read VRML97.

Thanks,

Hi,

you could generate VTK files and use VTK for OBj generation.

Greets,
