doesn't render on Blender2.46 Ubuntu 8.04

Postby pawel » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:49 am

I've set up LuxRender following the tutorials, I followed the 3 monkeys tutorial and everything seems to be working, except that pressing the Render button does nothing. I also tried it on a more complex scene and it froze Blender. Any help?
LuxRender 0.5a, Luxblend 0.1

Do you remember having set the path to LuxRender when running LuxBlend for the first time? If not, the script can not be started automatically. Also, you didn't by any chance unclick the "run" button, did you?

If you deselect the "def" button, LuxRender should save the required files to any location you specify. You could try starting LuxRender separately and opening the files created by LuxBlend; that may make it easier to figure out what the problem is.

About Blender freezing: it's probably a good idea to start Blender from the terminal (just open a terminal window and type "blender"); that way any error messages will be visible. If any error messages are produces, just post them here and people may be able to help.

solved: doesn't render on Blender2.46 Ubuntu 8.04

Well, it seems I chose the icc package rather than gcc - I have a Pentium 4, but not the newest one, and it won't work with icc. I assumed that the script wouldn't even start in Blender if used the wrong package, but when I started the program outside Blender in the console everything became clear. Now it's working with gcc. Sorry for the trouble.
And thanks for the suggestions Abel!
