Getting clean renders?

Postby edna » Fri Sep 05, 2008 7:25 am

Can anybody help me to get cleaner renders out of Lux more quickly?

I'm sure that Radiance said something about getting sharp/noise-free renders in a thread about the "notsosimple" image but I can't find it now. I understood it him to be talking about not needing to render large and then reduce the image to get it clean because Lux has some filters.

Obviously I can just render for hours and hours or pull the image in GIMP or Noiseware and bodge it, but I got the impression that if I understood some of the output/filter options I might be able to do something a bit cleverer. This is particularly important for getting rid of those final little areas that can take forever to render out.

Yafray 0.9 cheats it, for example, by allowing you to set a blur/mix distance for photons below which they are blurred together. Does Lux have something similar?

You should wait until there is a new refactored version of lux.then afaik will be written a documentation on lux. so just be patient and wait for the next version. then there will be sparetime for explanations.
// Blender 2.49 // Archlinux // Gimp 2.6.8 // yaourt -S luxrender-hg // AMD X2 2800 // Nvidia Geforce 240 GT //
