Just poured a glass very similar to that, and looked at it from that angle, the black line is there only it's not black, it's a strange pattern of reflections, increasing the eyepass depth should bring this out.

That's what I hoped :)
Btw. in this case it would be great if SLG would support multiple UV layouts... one for the little drops on the glass (the fogged up glass) and one for the coat of arms.
But I think for the coat of arms I would need a mix material anyway - maybe I'll port the whole scene to Frankenlux.
